Topics We Will Cover:
The iBGP Express is a self-paced, lab-driven course built around one of the most misunderstood rules in routing. BGP is the protocol that runs the Internet, and inside your own autonomous system it relies on iBGP to carry external routes from edge to edge. But RFC 4271 forbids an iBGP router from passing a route learned from one iBGP peer to another. The rule prevents loops, and it also leaves networks with missing routes, black holes, and silent failures, all while every session shows Established. Across seven modules and six hands-on labs on a single six-router topology, you will build an OSPF underlay with loopback peering, then deliberately break iBGP to watch the limitation happen in real router output. From there you fix it two ways. The full mesh works, but its sessions grow as n(n-1)/2. Route reflectors (RFC 4456) are the standard way large service provider and enterprise networks scale. Along the way you solve the next-hop problem with next-hop-self, design redundant route reflector clusters, and read ORIGINATOR_ID and CLUSTER_LIST. The course ends with a troubleshooting challenge covering the three most common iBGP failures. True to Lab Your Way to Success, you read a module, then build it.
